First flower bulbs planted

Last month the first flower bulbs for Floriade 2012 were planted. No fewer than 67,000 naturalising flower bulbs went into the soil in the Kapelbos in the Environment themed zone. They were joined by some 6700 perennials.

One of the designers of the flower bulb concept for the Floriade park is Jacqueline van der Kloet, in cooperation with the landscape architects at ARCADIS. In the Netherlands, Jacqueline van der Kloet has devised planting schemes for projects such as the Keukenhof, the Efteling, Artis and previous editions of Floriade. She has also worked on many major projects abroad.

In the autumn of 2011 more flower bulbs will be planted throughout the whole park.
