Floriade newsletter 26 February 2021

The developments for Floriade Expo 2022 progressed rapidly in February. Amidst a winter landscape the two highest posts of the cable car were installed, you can view the drone footage of this process below. In this newsletter we will update you about the progress multiple participants made in their preparations for Floriade and we look ahead to the wide ranging cultural programme Floriade has to offer. In the coming month the international press and travel trade will be updated at various virtual events and the next edition Floriade Dialogue will take place, which is all about freshwater ecosystems.

Colour in springtime

The first spring bulbs at the Floriade site are starting to bloom. Crocuses are among the first to appear when the last period of frost ends, followed by ornamental onions (allium) and tulips. With the end of this planting season in sight, we are looking forward to see how all trees, flowers and plants will bloom in the coming months.

Enjoy art, culture and horticulture

During Floriade, you can enjoy art and culture in addition to all the greenery. Exhibitions, live music from classical to jazz, entertainment and orchestras: there will plenty for young and old to experience. The little ones can marvel at children's shows in the forest theatre and throughout the park you can enjoy picknick concerts performed by various music ensembles.

The 19th of March our Floriade Dialogue edition is all about ‘Freshwater ecosystems and the value for societies and economies’. Join the discussion on the importance for countries to keep our life support systems running by making freshwater conservation and restoration a key priority.

In the upcoming newsletters we will share more details on the design of their pavilion and those of other participants.

Floriade attends international virtual events

In the coming weeks journalists from Belgium, Germany and Great Britain will be updated about the developments at the Expo at virtual press events. We will participate in the IMM Trav Media Germany, ITB Berlin where COO Sven Stimac will be interviewed by the German press.
